You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be financially free. You deserve a life that you control, not your shady boss. That’s why today we want to share with you the first steps we took in that direction. So let’s help you start a money making blog from your bed, in just 7 easy steps.
First things first, let’s share a little bit of our story with you.
We’re two young millennials, with a big dream. Freedom. Since we were teenagers, we were set on having our own business one day, and rocking it!
On our own, we did a bunch of stuff, had a few strange jobs, but we learned as much as we could about what we loved.
Me, being Maya, I was focused on everything that had to do with photography, my first job was as a nightlife photographer in pubs and clubs, and I was the first girl in our city to do it.
My beloved Andy, he was more focused on businesses. He loves everything that has to do with marketing, management, PR work and he used to help our friends who are artists sell their stuff.
Like everything in life, it didn’t last forever, so we couldn’t continue on those paths. That’s when we decided to buy a bar that had a tattoo shop! We did it, of course, with some financial help.
It was the best time of our lives, but also the hardest.
We thought we knew it all when we first started, oh, the young and restless. We got all crazy and made a ton of tiny mistakes that eventually led to our closing.
Looking back now, we understand where we did wrong.
You know how it is, the best lessons you learn from mistakes are the ones you do yourself.
After that, we both got into corporate jobs. The 9 to 5 was killing us, but it had to be done. When you have debt and bills to pay, you must do what you can.
But you know what happened next? We almost killed our relationship. We were never together at home because he was constantly working overtime, also did I.
When we were together we were too exhausted to even think of doing anything else other than sleeping.
Well, let me tell you, when this happens, YOU NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING. Don’t just stand there and wait for a miracle. That’s not how life goes. You go out and take it!
That’s when I became obsessed with Pinterest. From finding dinner ideas to tips on how to manage money, I stumbled upon blogging. And about how to make money blogging.
A new universe just appeared in that moment.
Of course, the research began. From how to start, to how to monetize, you can find everything out there. But you know what the problem is? It’s all sooooooo complex that it’s incredibly hard to find a simple, reliable article out there that shows you exactly what you have to do to start.
That’s why we decided to show you exactly how to set it up, step by step, exactly how we did it.

But enough with the chatting! Let’s get to it!
How to Start a Money Making Blog from your bed in 7 Steps
One quick thing before we start. Our explanation is longer than the actual setup of your blog, so get yourself comfortable.
1. Get your hands on great hosting service
The most important thing to know about hosting is you need to invest in it. If you want to have a good impression on your readers (and future clients) and to be able to monetize it, no matter what your niche is, you must go with a self-hosted blog.
Like we’ve mentioned in the previous article 5 Simple Reasons Why you need a blog if you are an Artist, it’s important to create a good impression from the get-go.
Your content may be stellar, but if you want to make yourself and your business big, you know it can’t be done by free hosting.
Just think of it this way. You’re a fashion designer. You’ve already got an awesome name for your business. Great!
Now, think that you are a potential client. What do you think when you see yourawesomebrand.blogger.com? That doesn’t quite say “trust me, I know what I’m doing”, now, does it?
What about when you see it simple yourawesomebrand.com ( or .co, is fine as well, in case it’s already taken)? You trust it, just because it looks professional.
As for the monetization part, aka the making money with it, there are several ways you can do that:
– installing adds;
– creating your own products to sell;
– sponsored posts;
– affiliate marketing.
We’ve read some nasty experiences other bloggers had when they went for free hosting, from not being able to use affiliate programs for extra money, no ads and even had their blog deleted for no freaking reason!
Who wants that to happen to them? Let’s avoid that!
When you think about having your own corner of the internet, you must make it all your own, and do it right.
It’s so easy, and affordable to get that great hosting that you need now.
With Bluehost, it’s only 3,95 per month, and you get your domain name, simple site builders, WordPress and 24/7 support for FREE!
Why do we recommend Bluehost? Well, for one, every big blogger we follow recommend them, and because after further searching, and reading tons of other reviews, nothing even compared to them.
Bluehost is reliable, affordable – we started with the basic plan, with only 3,95 per month and it’s just perfect. Also, what I love about them is that they are very easy to use, so even if you’re not a tech-savvy, it’s fine. They got you covered.
Start now with Bluehost here:
Select the plan you want (basic is fine) and let’s get to the next step.
2. Get your awesome domain name
This is simple as hell. After you sign up for hosting, this appears. Here, you’ll just have to type in the awesome name for your new site.
Tip. Be sure to check other terminations besides .com, if that one is not available. In this step, Bluehost will actually tell you if the name with the termination you chose for your blog is taken.
It’s okay if that happens like we’ve said before, you can go for .co, instead of .com, and it’s fine.
3. Fill out your personal info
Again, self-explanatory! Just be sure to check your info before saving it all.
4. Get the right package
Here you need to be sure to check the package you want. Oh, and don’t stress about all those extra stuff now, just get the basic package. You’ll only need that later when your site goes BIG, so there’s time for that.
And don’t worry about protecting your site, there’s an awesome help for that, the Jetpack plugin for WordPress, and it’s FREE. Yay!
5. Payment
This is the hardest part :). Fill in your payment info, be sure to check that you agree to the terms and conditions, and submit. Don’t forget to check your e-mail for confirmation.
Tip. We recommend also setting up an email just for your blog, and anything to do with it, in case you didn’t do this yet. It will be much easier for you to keep your stuff organized and be professional.
6. Password setup & logging into Bluehost
After all those steps you’ll have to setup your password and log in. You’ll have different log in details for Bluehost and WordPress, but don’t be scared.
Tip. If you need any information, just contact Bluehost support and they will help.
7. Installing and logging into WordPress
Once you’re in the fresh Bluehost account, you’ll see something like this.
Scroll down, and you’ll see the magical WordPress button. Yay!
Clicking that will open up a page like this:
Here you’ll have to fill in your site information and click next. Then another step will appear. Be sure to check that the info is correct before clicking that Install button! 🙂
After a few moments, you’ll have your confirmation:
Now all you need to do is to log into WordPress and start blogging.
Bonus:
Important tips on how to navigate your brand new WordPress site:
- After you log in, you’ll be a little overwhelmed, and it’s normal! Chill. Breathe. And start looking around. You’ll see on the top you have a bar. Don’t worry, nobody can see this, except you. All that you see right now it’s the “behind the scenes” stuff.
- On your left, you have a menu. Feel free to explore and read about what goes where, and all the how to’s. Here you have everything you need for your site. From posting and editing articles to plugins and overall settings.
- The first thing you should do is go to “Appearence-> Themes. Then, click on the “Add new” button, and start browsing for your theme. You can try out several until you get to the one you like. The best part? There are so many FREE themes out there, you have plenty to chose from!
- When you’re done with finding your theme, it’s time to post some articles. You can do this either from the top bar, by pushing the button “New”, or from the side left menu, from “Posts”->”Add New”
if you want to add some images to your blog post, there’s a button on the top of your text for that, the “Add Media” button. Also, there’s the “Featured Image” section, down on the right side. - and the last thing, we promise. Plugins. You find them on the left side, under “Appearance”. When you click on “Add New”, you’ll be able to install everything you need for your blog. Jetpack is a must, it’s made to help you keep your blog safe. For the rest, it depends on what you need, like and know it’s good.
And, that’s it!
This article took longer to read, than the actual start, didn’t it? But if you’ve made it to here, let us give you the link to start your blog with Bluehost, so you don’t have to scroll all the way to the top for it.
See you on the other side of blogging, gorgeous!
The best site I saw , Thank you for your troubles
What is it about these steps that will cause your blog to be money-making? (referencing the title of your post)
This post is about how to start a money making blog not how it makes money, but I edited the text, so you can have examples on how a blog can be monetized, but that’s a topic for another time.
