First, let’s talk some important stuff about Pinterest Group Boards:
In our last article, we covered everything you need to know about Pinterest. From the basics: why Pinterest, how to create a stunning account (aka a business account, not personal – can’t stress this enough), and why you should do that.
Then, we got into group boards for a little bit and gave a short list of 25+ groups to get you all started.
Today, we want to go more in-depth about group boards, and share with you a little more about where to find them, how to find the best fitting ones for you and your business, how to find and approach the people in charge of them, and of course, how to manage them.
Because we know it can get very overwhelming, especially at first, we want to show you our secrets regarding group boards, but first, a little introduction into Pinterest Group Boards.
What are Pinterest Group Boards?
Pinterest Group Boards are the “social part” of Pinterest. They are like the boards that you made for your profile, the difference is you invite other people to contribute to them as well, with pins according to the name and type of the board.
For example, you have a board named “Money Tips”, and you want to make it a group board, you just invite people. Then, they will post only money related pins.
To invite them, you have to do is to click on your board, click on the “+” button, and now, you have two options.
a) by writing the email of the person you want to invite
b) by writing the Pinterest name of the person you want to invite
Tip #1: Start a group board as fast as possible, it will help you gain exposure, find blogging friends, and learn more and more every day.
Tip #2: Be sure to create a super-short list of guidelines, to let people know exactly what you want for you, and on your group board.
You can take as an example, and ask to join while you’re at it, our Pinterest Group Board: Bloggers Unite – Let’s help each other!
Personal experience: Since we started blogging, we also created our group board and at first, we invited everyone we admired as bloggers – from the biggest to the smallest. Some accepted some have not, but that’s okay!
We grew, we made friends, we found motivation and inspiration.
Group boards are very important for you to gain exposure, that’s why you need to get on the best you can find out there, for your niche, as fast as possible. But, for starters, getting in groups that allow all topics is the way to go.
Why is that?
Because it’s easier to get into groups that accept all topics, and once you gain some exposure, you’ll get easily accepted (and even invited) into niche specific Pinterest group boards.
For weeks, my “day job” (seriously) was to find and ask to be a contributor to as many as I could find out there. So that’s what you need to do at first.
The best site to get you started on that path is PinGroupie. It’s this awesome site, created just for this. You can sort them out and find the ones you need, by selecting what you need on the menu bar.
Tip #1. Look for groups with a high number of Repins. It’s better to be in a smaller group with a big repin rate, than a huge one with 0 repins. Yes, you want a big audience, but Repins are the way to go.
Tip #2. To know who is in charge of the group, all you need to do is look up at the description, and the first bubble you’ll see on the right is the owner of the group.
Tip #3. Before you apply be sure to READ the description. Here you will find all the info about how to join, what the board is about, and if it’s right for you or not.
Why are Group Boards so important?
Think of it this way. When you pin something on a group board, your pin is viewable by your audience and the audience of that group. When someone repins your pin, it will be visible to their audience as well.
So, even though you only have 30 people following you right now, when you pin to a group of 1000, your audience is the total amount 1030! If a person with an audience of 10 000 people repins your pin, those people can see your pin too!
That’s how you grow.
Tip #1. If you want to increase your chances of getting accepted, it’s good to have a nice message, not too long, not too short. Introduce yourself, and your blog, with a link, of course.
Ask nicely to be invited, and it’s always good to let the person in charge of accepting you know that you are willing to help them with anything if needed.
Tip #2. Always leave a link to your Pinterest profile, and don’t forget to include your email address of your Pinterest account as well.
Now that you know how to make sure you get accepted to as many as possible, let’s see how to manage them properly.
How to manage Pinterest Group Boards the Simple Way
1. Keeping an evidence
Having an evidence of all of them is the first step. You need to keep in mind the rules and specifications of all of them.
Because having an example is easier than explaining tables, here’s an example. This is exactly like the one we use to keep it all in line.
Tip. Be sure to double check every board for the rules and extra specifications, you don’t want to miss something and get removed!
Personal experience: Using a table to keep things organized really helps us on a daily basis, because it saves tons of time. Also, because of this detailed table, we are able to have a perfectly set schedule as well.
2. Using the Tailwind Smart Scheduler

Our question for you is: How do you manage Pinterest Group Boards?
Thank you for sharing! I’m still working on my Pinterest strategy, so I love helpful information!
I know how overwhelming it can be. Glad we could help!
Super informative. I don’t even know where to begin with group boards on pinterest. To be honest I didn’t even know what I was supposed to do with them. I had joined some because a blog told me to, and they just sit stagnate on my page. I will start to get my plan together to better organize and utilize these groups.
I know how you feel. I’ve been there. That’s why I got organized. And because I love tabels hehe 🙂 We really hope this helps you! 🙂
I have to tell you that this came at just the right time for me. And simple IS the key!
So glad to hear that!
My answer to your question is “I don’t! They manage themselves.” Bad bad girl! I’ve skimmed through this article and I will get back to it. Why only skimmed? Because after I’d read the first couple of paragraphs I realised I need to read (or re-read?) you first post on the topic and figure out what I should be doing. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve opened your previous post, so will start there. 🙂 Thank you!
