20 awesome life lessons you learn from Star Wars

In order to continue the 40th anniversary Star Wars Celebration that took place these days in the US, and just officially ended a few hours ago, I thought it was necessary to share with you some of the best life lessons you learn from the Star Wars movies.

Of course, I, being a big Star Wars fan since forever, could not resist the temptation to geek out and explain what I’ve learned from them and why you should watch Star Wars as soon as possible (if you never did).

You may not think that movies like this, science-fiction, the first being a 40-year-old movie, filled with droids, The Force, Jedi, Sith, rebels, and all sorts of creatures from around the universe, can really be life-changing and educational.

The fun fact is, George Lucas, the genius behind the story and all this fun madness that came after all these years, actually said that he intended the movie for 12-year-olds. The reason is, I think, the story and the many life lessons anyone can learn from them.

The awesome warm feeling that you get when the movie starts, and you hear that music, aw man! I love that feeling.

Don’t get me wrong, I go all crazy for other movies and movie soundtracks ( for example the Lord of the Rings & Hobbit, Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter), but nothing makes me feel like Star Wars does.

I think it’s because it may be the first movie I ever saw, and it fascinated me from the first moment. But never mind me, I have blabbed enough. This is about helping you. And the lessons you learn from Star Wars, so let’s get to it!

20 awesome life lessons you learn from Star Wars

1. Don’t let fear control you

“Fear is the path to the dark side.” – Yoda, The Phantom Menace

Fear is like a poison in your mind, and the idea is to fight it, resist it. You should not let yourself be caged by fear because it will slowly destroy everything dear to you. Your confidence, your attitude and then your personal life can change to the worst, just because of fear.

Didn’t you ever want something but was too afraid to go after it? What happened next? You ended up in regret. That leads to sadness and depression. Our own real life “dark side”. Not a fancy place to be.

2. Let go of doubt

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.” – Darth Vader, A New Hope

I love this quote, it’s actually one of my favorites. When you are confident in yourself, there will always be someone who will try to “cut your wings” and make you feel less than you are, and can become.

Never listen to that voice of doubt. The fact that someone did not see the solution to a problem like you have and therefore questions it, should strengthen you, not break you.

3. Don’t be a cocky ass

“There’s always a bigger fish.” – Qui-Gon Jinn – The Phantom Menace

I like to interpret this as follows: You are not the best, the most perfect, the most incredible human being. Be humble, there’s always a bigger fish than you that can eat you alive, and you will not like it if it does.

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help

“Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” – Princess Leia, A New Hope

Sometimes you can’t do everything on your own, no matter how skilled and smart you are. At least once in a while, life will throw things at you that you can’t do alone and you should ask for help and guidance. No one will blame you for that.

Even our beloved Princess Leia needed help, as tough as she was!

5. Glass half full

“One thing’s for sure, we’re all going to be a lot thinner.” – Han Solo – A New Hope

This funny comment from is one of my dearests because it shows that even in the most difficult times in our lives, it’s okay to laugh and be positive.

You have to see the good part because there always is one.

6. Confidence is the key

“The force is strong with this one.” – Darth Vader – A New Hope

When you are strong and confident, it shows. People notice these things from the moment you enter a room. Didn’t you ever see someone just enter a room and everything just lights up around them? Then you notice how everyone treats that person. They are drawn to that person.

Be that person.

About Maya M.

I'm Maya. I am the (loud) crazy rocker of this magical couple that is behind the Dreaming of Butterflies Project, aka the "undercover introvert", or "Wifey", as my fiance likes to call me. Personally, I love unconditionally: Andy, my family, art (especially Photography), and everything that has to do with self-improvement. (And cats, but that's a bonus ;)). I have a weakness for good live music, books, video games, and last but not least strange trivia & fun facts about everything from history, pop culture, books, music, movies, and games. On a professional level, I love the creative part of the business and the Management - from basic logistics to financial.
